Abstract
Spigelian hernia is considered a rare and difficult-to-diagnose condition, causing symptoms that debilitate patients' physiques and, in the long term, can lead to serious life-threatening complications. Pharmacological therapies do not always prove effective in treating the symptoms and this leads to the only possible solution: surgery. This thesis describes the role of the nurse and the activities performed in the care of the patient undergoing laparoscopic and laparotomic surgery for the reduction of Spigelian hernia. The focus was on the management and prevention of complications and the role of the nurse throughout the entire course from preoperative to postoperative.
