Abstract
With the following degree thesis, entitled “The paediatric patient with type 1 diabetes mellitus: the role of the nurse. Proposal for an educational brochure”, we wanted to investigate the importance of therapeutic education in a paediatric patient with a chronic disease such as diabetes. This work stems from the idea of making people understand the extent of therapeutic education and to create a brochure with the aim of educating the social context in which the paediatric patient with diabetes is inserted. The preparation of this paper is the result of research, reading and review of the articles relating to the subject, provided by the various databases. From the sources sought, as well as from the narrative inserted, the need emerges on the part of health professionals, therefore also of nurses, to promote and implement therapeutic education activities, not only aimed at the families directly concerned, but also and above all at all. the components that act as a corollary within the child’s social context. Today, there are several initiatives aimed at educating the paediatric patient and parents in the management of diabetes, such as camps for diabetics. This paper, therefore, aims to focus attention also on the education of those who make up the social environment of the paediatric patient, through the creation of a booklet, which aims to provide useful information to implement any behaviours.
