Abstract
Premature birth greatly affects the development of the newborn, who is facing a path of growth in the Neonatal Intensive Care, flanked by parental figures forced to deal with a complex reality and with intense and pressing emotions. The aim of the paper is to present Kangaroo Mother Care as a proposed therapy in the departments of Neonatology and Neonatal Intensive Care to promote the growth process of the premature newborn, exploiting the skin-to-skin contact between mother and child. Thus, the modalities of the Marsupium Therapy are analyzed, in relation to the benefits found both for the newborn baby and for the maternal figure, and the involvement of the parent in the assistance to the premature, placing the family at the center of care and supporting the increase of the psycho-affective bond. In conclusion, the development of an information booklet that serves as a guide for parents of premature babies who are in incubators. The goal is to introduce them to Marsupium Therapy, in order to stimulate parent-child interaction, and promote the establishment of the natural process of attachment.
