Abstract
Young caregivers are defined in the literature as "young people under the age of 18 who provide care or support to another family member (Nap, et al., 2020). In the literature, their role and, more importantly, their taking over by the nurse are not very thoroughly explored. The present research work aims to investigate the emotional experience of health care professionals toward young caregivers. The analysis methodology used is qualitative, carried out through the administration of semi-structured interviews with nurses from Home Care and Mental Health services. This enabled four main themes to be identified: experience, communication, choices, and protective attitude. Analysis of the results revealed how rewarding this relationship can be on the one hand and how difficult on the other. The most impactful communication strategies were analyzed. Reference was made to the Code of Ethics regarding the issue of choices. Finally, regarding the nurse's projectivity, it emerged how empathy should foster a meeting point without jeopardizing the moral integrity of the practitioner himself.
