Abstract
The definition of "missed nursing care" refers to all those aspects of nursing that are partially or completely omitted or delayed, due to a multitude of factors. The phenomenon of missed nursing care is transversal in different cultures, countries and care contexts. The underlying cause of the phenomenon and the significant negative implications that follow, especially in terms of safety and quality of care for patients, are dealt with in the following thesis. The omission or any delay in the nursing care provided has a direct impact on several fronts, such as: healthcare organization, nursing staff and users.
