Abstract

Subarachnoid hemorrhage is a vascular disease characterized by a collection of blood in the subarachnoid space. This is an extremely dangerous event in which prompt action is required. The continuous leakage of blood and its collection in the subarachnoid spaces can cause serious damage to the patient in a short time, such as important neurological deficits up to death. Properly trained nurses play a fundamental role in the supervision and management of this type of patient; in particular, nurses actively intervene by working in a team, supporting and personalizing Integrated Care Pathways for each individual patient. Literature showed that nurses act independently and with criteria thanks to their knowledge, skills and responsibility. They are also responsible for the careful monitoring of the patient in order, above all, to prevent any complications that could worsen the prognosis. The purpose of this thesis is to demonstrate that interventions implemented by nurses can produce positive effects in terms of clinical and care outcomes.
