Abstract
The paper is drawn from the personal experience of internship at the TerapiaIntensive Neonatal Polyclinic of Modena and aims to analyze how nursing can play an important role for parents who face this difficult and long path within the unit. It will analyze the path of care that parents will undertake together with their child and the role of the nurse as a facilitator of this path. The first chapter presents the world of Neonatal Intensive Care and its structural characteristics, with particular reference to the TIN of Modena. The second chapter highlights the concept of Family Centered care and its evolution over time, emphasizing the mutation of the nursing role; finally, the introduction of the Nidcap method as a model of care. The third chapter introduces the fundamental concept of the nursing of the newborn and his family. The conclusion will continue to emphasize the indispensable role of the nurse in this area and the importance of establishing an alliance between nurses and parents in order to ensure a better care process for the newborn.
