Abstract
The Operating Department is an operational area of the hospital characterized by a high level of complexity of care, instrumentation, procedure and technology, in which the person undergoes surgery with invasive methods in planned mode and / or emergency. Within the Operating Department among the various professional figures stands the nurse as a health professional responsible for nursing care, it plays specific roles and propedeutical in all phases that proceed, accompany and follow the surgical intervention (peri-operative) and generally differs into three different roles: nurse anesthesia, which is the active collaborator of the anesthesiologist, nurse instrumentalist understood as a professional who acts alongside the surgeon and nurse room, which operates in synergy with other professional figures. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the organization and structure of the surgical compartment as well as the activity and management of nurses in the current emergency situation induced by the spread of the SARS CoV 2 virus. In the pandemic context the nursing activity within the Operating Theatres, had to remodel itself in the reorganization of the paths and training of the staff with respect to the infectious risk, adopting operational measures for the protection of patients and operators themselves.
