Abstract

Prematurity represents a real challenge, not only for the baby, who has to face an inappropriate world for him, but also for his family, most of all his parents, who are usually unprepared for this kind of situation. Because of the different stage of prematurity, complications, related to organ's growth, would be more or less serious: often premature baby struggles to keep the right body temperature, to breath and also to eat. Kangaroo Mother Care is an easy and useful method that helps to improve premature baby's wellness and health and, especially, to recreate the bond between parents and baby from the very first moment. Skin to skin contact supports the first approach of premature baby into breastfeeding, which is not only a way to feed the baby, but it also remains the main system to create a special and unique relationship with his mom.The method that I've decided to use is a revision of literature using the research bank. I've created a brochure about Kangaroo mother care especially about breastfeeding, in order to support the parents in this very unique esperience and to encourage breastfeeding step by step. My thesis aims to look into and improve skin to skin contact and breastfeeding, and also to raise awareness, involve and educate the parents, especially the mother. This technique has a therapeutic value and even a more important emotional and human relevance
