Abstract
In this thesis it has been examined the phenomenon of the post-operative delirium. The choice of this phenomenon it is due to the need to deepen the knowledge of the syndrome that is post-operative delirium, but also to know how to treat it in the most correct and effective way. To obtain all the informations about it several databases were been used like CINHAL, PubMed, Cochrane and Google Scholar using the keywords delirium, post-opreative, elderly, pharmacological and non-pharmacological. From the research it came to light that post-operative delirium appears like a very present and rarely recognised. As compared to the twenty years ago the knowledge of delirium increased a lot like the way to treat it and there is more and more research about it. What emerged form this thesis is the relevance of a multidisciplinary method to provide the best aid to the patients suffering from this syndrome. Furtheremore, it is essential the improvement of an aimed at education for doctors and nurses but also provide documentation about it and do prevention for the population.
