Abstract
The work elaborated is based on the personal experience of internship carried out at Oncological Day Hospital of the Hospital of Carpi and intend to scrutinize the nursing assistance to the patient with gastric cancer, paying attention particularly to the refusal of the disease. For the bibliography research have been consulted databases like Pubmed, Cinahl, Uptodate and Nursing Reference Center Plus. The first chapter introduces the gastric cancer; the risk factors,symptomatolgy, necessary tests to determine diagnosis are defined; furthermore phase patterns are defined and types of stomach cancer treatment are examined. The second chapter regards the advise of the diagnosis and prognosis and nursing assistance in the oncological setting. In the third chapter psycological reactions of the patient regarding the ilness, especially refusal of the disease; the relevance of the dialog and the nurse-patient relationship are described as essential element for a nursing assistance of quality. Furthermore the end of life and emotional support towards caregiver are dealt with in the 3rd chapter. Th final part of the project includes the description of a real case and the relative support planning through taxonomic code (NANDA-I, NOC, NIC). At the end a consideration of the student in regard to the importance of the acceptance of the diagnosis by the patient and caregiver for a better adherence to therapeutic plan and to encourage for a better life quality.
