Abstract
Admission in ICU (Intensive Care Unit) is upsetting for both the patient and their family or caregivers, which is often forced to bear sleep deprivation, anxiety, or depression, even up to suffering from PTSD after the discharge of the loved one. By gathering data from several ICUs and by focusing mostly on the patients' family's needs, it was found out that emotional support and clinical updates are the main demands families look for. For this reason, over the course of the years, various strategies aiming to improve communication between families and the ICU team were conceived. Informative pamphlets, dedicated websites, mobile applications are just a few examples. Following a brief comparison among the aforementioned strategies, it was decided to design an informative pamphlet adhering to the templates found in the scientific literature. Furthermore, an informative video showing what an ICU is, what its devices and tools are, was recorded. Such video has been also integrated into the pamphlet by inserting a QR code on the former's front page. The objective of this work is to obtain a tool capable of facilitating the relationship and communication between health professionals and families/caregivers.
