Abstract

Motivation: The child links the illness to negative emotions, becoming ill therefore becomes a stressful event, both physically and psychologically. Feeling sick puts him in a situation of diversity from everyday life. Music is a fundamental part of the child's daily life and development, in the hospital it takes on an even more important role. Music turns out to be the language of the child, in addition to this it has a considerable therapeutic value and it is important to recognize it and know how to use it. Purpose: Working with an anxious, fearful and sad child can be a problem for the professional, in addition to an emotional involvement, the collaboration with the child could be compromised, making it difficult to carry out tasks. The carrying out of this work is therefore aimed at finding a possible solution to work with children, trying to help them in the moment of suffering. The aim is therefore to understand if music therapy can be a valid tool to deal with this situation. Method: The research question is: Does the use of music therapy reduce anxiety in hospitalized children ?; the method used is the systematic review of the literature. The keywords used are Child, hospitalized, preparing child, anxiety reduction, therapeutic music and music therapy. Results: The results of the analyzed studies show that the use of therapeutic music has a positive effect on the child's anxiety. It has been seen that children are calmer during the nursing intervention and cooperate more, they also understand the need for care and feel an active part of the situation. The nurse benefits from the intervention by being able to work in better conditions. Conclusions: Through the selected articles, they believe that music therapy is valid to reduce the suffering to which the child and family are confronted during illness and hospitalization.
