Abstract

This thesis intends to explore methods and care pathways of the Pediatric Palliative Caring by analyzing all the steps that the patient and his family must take, and the professionals with whom they must relate and entrust their child's care. The difficulties that families usually encounter throughout the journey are due to the lack of knowledge of this subject, which is not dictated by indifference or disinterest, but by the taboos that involve the death and suffering of the minor. The purpose of this thesis is to raise awareness among the community about Pediatric Palliative Care aimed to a better understanding of the phases of cares primarily for what It concerns the minor, but also for the parents and the caregivers who stay around him. When the pediatric patient suffers, we try in every way to cure and save him, but sometimes there is the risk of adopting procedures that - on the contrary - can be harmful and increase the suffering; to avoid that, it is necessary to treat the child as a person with rights and dignity and, when he enters in palliative caring, he must be accompanied at the end of his life in the most peaceful and dignified way possible.
