Abstract

Background: in this paper, the nursing perspective will be explored within a broad network and in the home and school context, for the care of a minor patient with se-vere disabilities. More specifically, a clinical case of an adolescent suffering from ne-onatal CMV neuropathy with lissencephaly, quadriplegia, symptomatic drug-resistant epilepsy and major scoliosis, with tracheostomy and PEG will be proposed. Materials and methods: An in-depth search of the literature and of the legislative systems currently in force was carried out in order to design a care plan able to guar-antee the best quality of life for the patient suffering from this pathology. Different databases (Medline, CINHAL, PsycInfo, Nursing Reference Center Plus), scientific articles and various textbooks have been consulted, using different keywords for re-search: School nurse, neonatal CMV, nursing, educator, disability, child, education, tracheosthomy, care setting, lissencephaly. Discussion: For the complete care of the severely disabled child and his / her family, interventions by various professionals in collaboration with each other are necessary. The nurse plays a main role in the care and education of the child in the school and home setting, helping to improve his quality of life and giving a valuable perspective in the multidisciplinary network that surrounds him. Conclusion: through individualized care planning, the nurse can significantly im-prove the quality of life and well-being of the patient and his family, aiming to main-tain and enhance the progress achieved.
