Abstract

This thesis establishes the fundamentals, through the revision of literature, to examine in depth the evaluation of vein heritage that everyone is provided of, which one with the distinctive feature that it can’t be generated again; the extreme exploitation causes a strict and irreversible impoverishment. After reviewing the scientific literature on various biomedical databases such as PubMed, Cochrane Library, Cinahl, it was highlighted the existence of different sectoral evaluation sheets of the venous heritage, for example in the oncology, pediatric, surgical fields, but at the same time the complete lack of a unique method of evaluating the venous stock applicable to any healthcare environment. The form of evaluation proposed in this thesis is an innovative model of caring characterized by the analysis of four co-factors: patient, peripherical vein circulation, therapy and healthcare. The elements are organized to simplify the adoption, showing how this model could be a positive innovation for the nursing care. The goal of this schedule is to focus the attention on the real/potential needs of the patients, trying to objectivate the quality of vein system and simultaneously building a therapeutic relationship to understand the emotional expertise associated with the venipuncture. The final analysis has showed that the role of the nurse is important not only as a collaborator of the medical staff but above all as a trained professional in charge of the patient’s care. The nurse is the professional figure closest to the patient and has to pay attention to all his/her needs, to provide appropriate assistance and apply the preventive measures in the most effective way.
