Abstract
Acute coronary sindromes (ACS) and stroke are among the medical conditions with the highest incidence in our country and worldwide, and are burdened with high mortality and disability. A favourable outcome is strictly related to an early intervention, therefore a strict plan of actions needs to be performed since the prehospital response up to the referral to the appropriate nearest hub clinic. This process relies on a wholesome integration in terms of geographical and timely hierarchy among the subjects involved in the response, i.e the National emergency Service 118 and hub hospitals of the networks dependent time. With this work, we show how the integration among emergency teams, hospitals and their diagnostic hierarchical protocols are performed in the region of Emilia Romagna, particularly in the province of Modena, with a further focus on the possible role that the emergency nurse can play in it.
