Abstract

The meningioma is the most common intracranial tumor; it takes origin from the meningeal cells and the arachnoid granulations. Most of these tumors are benignant but they can slowly grow to great dimensions, if undiagnosed, and become severely disabling, if not even potentially lethal, for the patient. The symptomatology depends from the localization of the injury. The neurosurgery nurse has a subtle and complex role, since it needs to take care of the patient globally; because of this, it is presented a case report on a patient suffering from a gigantic frontal meningioma with its assistance plan, utilizing the nursing taxonomies NANDA-I, NOC and NIC. Furthermore, the fundamental role of the caregiver with this kind of patients will be treated. The method adopted for the realization of the thesis includes bibliographic research on scientific literature, throughout material gathered from validate databases like PubMed and Cinalh, searche engines as Google Scholar and various handbooks. With this paper, the care complexity of this kind of patient is shown, from the reception to the resignation. Every clinical manifestation gets a specific treatment, every NANDA-I diagnosis is adjusted and modified in every moment of the assistance path, but every patient is treated completely, globally, without differentiation.
