Abstract
This thesis examines the repercussions of Sars-Cov-2 pandemic from medical and psychiatric standpoint. In fact, Covid-19 caused the onset, in addition to serious physical consequences in many organ systems, of psychological and psychiatric diseases and disturbs, which considerably influenced the perception of the reality, already deeply altered in the substance and in everyday life by the direct and indirect effects of the virus. Isolation and social restrictions, often detrimental on psychiatric patients, were faced by teams of mental health professionals through innovative strategies, mainly aimed at maintaining an empathetic relationship, based on a calm and reassuring attitude, despite the social isolation imposed. Healthcare providers active listening brings out emotional states, enhances the centrality of the person and it is preparatory to the treatment of several psychopathologies later examined. After a quick overview of the virus characteristics and effects on psyche and life habits of the general population, this thesis specifically analyzes the findings on the most common different psychiatric diseases, then moves on what happened to the youngest part of the population and closes with the application and development of telepsychiatry, used to remotely cope with the consequences perceived by subjects with mental disorders and by health professionals at the forefront. In fact, in order to limit contagion, it is possible to guarantee continuity of care, thanks to online conferences, telemedicine and ICT.
