Abstract

The nurse-client relationship plays a central role within the assistance activity and it is, for this reason, of fundamental importance for the nurse to learn to manage their working time to devote to the helping relationship. Obviously, to do this, the nurse practitioner will have to adopt very specific behaviors and strategies, such as empathy, active and understanding listening using effective communication techniques. All this will be useful for the achievement of a good management of working time that allows him to develop and maintain effective relationship with the assisted persons. During his daily work, the nurse is faced with not only the technical and organizational aspects of assistance, but also the emotional, sensorial and relation aspects of the patient. The goal of this thesis was to investigate how the time to devote to the assistance relationship is managed and how the latter is a central aspect of the entire care process. To do this, works by various authors were consulted on the topic described in the paper, and research was also conducted on database such as Cinhal, PubMed. The results highlighted by the review of the literature indicate that the time to devote to the therapeutic relationship of help with the client is becoming increasingly important in the clinical setting; Furthermore, establishing a good nurse-patient relationship, through specific attitudes of trust and authenticity, is essential in terms of humanizing care. Therefore it would be advisable to carry out further research on the topic of time management and on the importance, on the part of the nurse, of acquiring greater awareness of how significant the relationship is and that the time dedicated to the relationship is never wasted.
