Abstract
Prevention is meant as those set on interventions related to the sensitization and information of the whole population, both adults or minors. The nurse plays as guarantor of the educational assistance. We can consider to introduce in schools these educational interventions about the emergency-urgency system, cardio-pulmonary resuscitation and maneuvers for unblocking airways, thus making schools the center of nursing services. Increasing the awareness of the society about first aid starts from children's training. Therefore school becomes a fundamental link between health and young people; leading to a community of more autonomous citizens in terms of health parameters. Carrying out educational interventions, the child becomes more aware of tools, means and hospital environment, both internal and external, thereby obtaining a reduction of anxiety and fear of hospitals and first aid. In this document, strategies are identified to achieve effective communication with young people, thus attempting in raising students’ awareness about the importance of the intervention. Therefore, we want to show that educating in schools means to obtain a change in the society of tomorrow, increasing people’s readiness and awareness in situations of emergency. A logical method was used, starting from the explanation of the emergency-urgency and of the 118 system, and then going to analyze the best communication strategies based on age groups to make the educational interventions more effective. An overview of the studies available on a worldwide and European level is submitted, and then it is further explained in the “118 sQuola” project, developed in the Modena area, with proposals to improve this kind of service.
