Abstract
In psychiatry, the interpersonalrelationshipbetween nurse and patientis the focus of all care practice. The formation of a therapeuticrelationshipbetweenmentalhealth nurses and the psychiatricpatient, whichisvital, isnot an instinctive event butrequiresgreat skills to establishthis interaction. In thisthesiswetry to identifywhat are the fundamentalaspectsthatcharacterize the therapeuticrelationshipbetween nurse and patient and what are the strategies to make iteffective. For thispurpose, a review of the literature wascarried out through the consultation of biomedical databases suchasMedline/Pubmed, The Cochrane library e le riveste Journal of Psychiatric and MentalHealth Nursing e International Journal of MentalHealth Nursing. But an effectivetherapeuticrelationshipiscrucial to achievingbeneficialoutcomes in the patient, in terms of participation and adherence to care. A balanced mix of quality and personal skills, acquired knowledge, professionalexperience and full awareness of the potential in theirprofessionalrole,are the result of relationalcompetence, able to promote a therapeuticpathwithin a psychiatric service.
