Abstract

A maxi-emergency is an unexpected event that often catches health workers unprepared, in which the number of victims and people involved exceeds the human resources available at least in the phases. Such an event often generates anxieties and fears in rescuers which, if not managed correctly and promptly, can cause disorders ranging from acute stress disorder (ASD) to post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) to burnout. This type of problems encountered in healthcare personnel are not only more frequent than one thinks but above all disabling, compromising not only the working life due to frustration, lack of enthusiasm and stimuli, but above all the lifestyle with the onset of anxiety, depression and sleep disturbances. A recent survey carried out by the La Cattolica University of Milan shows that proving events such as the Covid 19 emergency in contemporary times lead one in three operators to show signs of burnout and two out of three operators to show signs of psycho-physical stress. It is therefore essential to prevent these syndromes through methods aimed at the psychological support of the operator such as carrying out debriefing, defusing or demobilization. Recently in many European countries and in some contingent Italian realities the figure of peer support is gaining more and more share with undoubted benefits. The purpose of the thesis is to deepen the psychological problems and analyze possible support methods also through the administration of a questionnaire that aims to evaluate the reactions that the S.E.T. nurses from a psychological point of view 118 of Modena had both during and after a maxi-emergency. To carry out this work, various databases such as 'Pubmed' and 'CINAHL' were consulted.
