Abstract
The following dissertation deals with the nursing managment of the polytraumatized patient. The purpose of this work is to highlight the correlation between the Nurse and the treatment of the polytraumatized patient. The choice of this topic comes from experience of internship held at Emergency Room of Nuova Estense Hospital in Baggiovara, Modena. The dissertation starts with a first chapter where a definition of trauma is exposed togheter with the epidemiological incidence of road accidents both in Italy and Europe in the last decade; moreover, the different kinds of trauma that occur in the presence of the traumatic event are described. In the second chapter the territorial organisation of the rescue system is reported by identifying the Chain of Survival and the Operations Center. The third chapter describes the nurses' tools to operate on the polytraumatized patien such as ALS, the primary survey , the secondary survey and the choice of the most suitable hospital for the patient's final destionation.
