Abstract
The proposed thesis is aimed at analysing, through a retrospective qualitative survey, the nursing perception bound to the phenomenon of violence and aggression against health operators perpetrated by subjects belonging to the child family. The General Modena City Hospital Paediatric Acceptance specific assessment was considered to lead this study. From the review of the literature it raised that the phenomenon has been widely investigated in the reality of the general emergency room, but not enough among the paediatric emergency rooms. It is also believed that this kind of issue is extremely current and of course in a dangerous exponential increasing.
A semi-structured interview was given to the nursing crew of the General Modena City Hospital Paediatric Reception Service. The purpose of this job was to bring out subjective free opinions from the operators interviewed. The study highlighted the problem relevance with particular respect to the subjective perceptions of the nurses interviewed and involved, both on the basis of the frequency and consequences of the violence episodes undergone, in short and long term. It was also possible to define the possible risk factors and prevention of such episodes and the perceptions felt by the nursing team regarding the involvement of the Health
Authority. Theres a need to implement measures to protect healthcare professionals who perform their work within this setting, as violence can be considered a real occupational risk. It raised up the need to proceed with specific training courses aimed at providing more coping and management strategies for nurses who carry out their job among the operating units into question.
