Abstract
The growing tax burden on the budgets of European countries, associated with an increase in the incidence of diseases caused by aging and environmental factors, makes it necessary to reorganize health systems, maximizing resources.
The new information and communication technologies (ITC) offer the possibility of using human resources more efficiently, giving more personalized assistance, ensuring greater multi-professional collaboration and continuity.
In addition, technology can help promote health, allowing citizens to stay healthier for longer and prevent risk factors for chronic diseases that represent almost 71% of the diseases.
The reduction of chronic diseases would lead to an increase in collective social and economic well-being.
The nurse plays a significant role in the design of both individual and community promotion and prevention interventions, for these reasons it is necessary that she has solid digital skills and is active in their dissemination.
The aim of the thesis is to explain the development of eHealth and the benefits of prevention and promotion, analyzing the obstacles that prevent its implementation, with particular attention to the Emilia-Romagna.
