Abstract
Shaken Baby: The educational role of the nurse in prevention and assistance to the small patient. The thesis deals with the topic of Shaken Baby Syndrome (SBS), with the aim of contributing to raising awareness among parents on the subject and minimizing the incidence of victims. The method used for the preparation of the paper consisted of a bibliographic search, an accurate reading of the literature collected and exposure of the most important information in four chapters. The main contents of the thesis are: the description of the theme of Shaken Baby Syndrome, the deepening of the phenomenon in terms of etiology, incidence, diagnosis and prognosis, assistance of the child with head trauma and in critical conditions. The work concludes with a reflection on the importance of the educational role of nurses towards families. Over the course of the work it showed that there are little reliable data on the incidence in Italy, the topic is much better known and treated in other 3 countries and that the main cause of the triggering phenomenon is the inconsolable crying of the child. In order to achieve the objective of the thesis, an information brochure was written in Italian, with the future project of translating it into other languages to make it understandable to people of different nationalities.
