Abstract

The objective of this paper is to carry out a review of the literature to collect information about the Snoezelen therapy, its effectiveness and its use in particular in paediatric patients suffering from ADS (autism spectrum disorder). The methodology carried out for the realization of this thesis is a review of the literature through web consultations, books and databases such as: Oneclikunimore, Cinhal, Cocherane, google scolar. The documents examined show an overview of what is the multisensory chamber and its possibilities of use, also confirm that there is positive scientific evidence regarding the Snoezelen technique with pediatric patients with ADS, leading to a reduction of anxiety, stereotypical behavior and aggression, as well as an increase in concentration in the patient.Although it is a technique that has been present for many years, for many operators it is unknown especially in the Italian territory where the information material on the subject is not very widespread and where the number of Snoezelen rooms is much lower than in other European countries. The nurse has a fundamental role in the care and relationship with children suffering from diseases or disorders where Snoezelen can help to achieve positive results. Increasing research in less investigated care areas would help spread knowledge and application possibilities to many nurses in the care sector and, not least, confirm the effectiveness of Snoezelen in care areas where there are still no clear indications today.
