Abstract
There are more and more people who are diagnosed with psychiatric disorder, often with the only result of making the stigma that still unfortunately surrounds mental illness even stronger. These people with any kind of psychiatric disorder are unable take care of their most fragile sphere, so they often have to rely on the figure of a mental health nurse, as far as their emotional and sexual life is concerned.
Overcoming stigma and prejudices means working to build a civil society and a responsible and welcoming community, because of all this, these sick people see their human rights violated and many of them are victims of severe restrictions.
The aim of this thesis is to broaden the knowledge of the nurse who works in the psychiatric field with regard to the affective, relational and sexual sphere of the patient and, especially, the fundamental aspects that contribute to recover or maintain the balance of the human being, sick or healthy, preventing the social stigma, which has remained unchanged over the years, produces further harm and helps to marginalize more and more from society the person suffering from mental disorder.
