Abstract
SIDS, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, commonly known as "cradle death" was defined as the sudden and unexpected death of an apparently healthy newborn, which remains unexplained even after a complete post-mortem investigation has been carried out. A background bibliographic search was conducted by consulting primary databases (Cinahl), secondary databases (Uptodate), systematic reviews, guidelines, protocols and various internet resources. The drafting of this document is intended to expose the knowledge of SIDS, focusing on prevention. In fact, research has shown that thanks to the latest technologies, some intelligent garments have been created, in capable of continuously monitoring one or more vital parameters of the newborn, promptly reporting any anomalies. In conclusion, from the various studies analyzed it is clear that the ultimate goal is to highlight how the nursing figure plays a role of fundamental importance for the prevention of SIDS: nurses in fact, have the role of educating and guiding families to adopt safe behaviors in order to reduce the incidence of this event.
