Abstract

The citizen's involvement in the choices concerning his own health is now a consolidated concept in the national and international context. The choice shared between operator and patient, which is identified in the model of the "shared decision-making process", has not yet reached a full scientific maturity and wide dissemination, despite the positive implications have been attributed. This approach is based on the centrality of the patient, and is particularly important in end-of-life care. The objective of this paper is to analyze, through a literature review, the concept of "shared decision-making", the implications in clinical practice and deepening in the context of palliative care, the concept of shared choice. Finally, the new institute of "shared care planning", issued by Italian legislation with law n° 219/17, which clarifies the shared path between patient and doctor / healthcare team. In order to include the repercussions of the new institute on the experience of illness, an interview was conducted which at the same time clarified the behavior of the doctor and the palliative nurse in the course of the pathology. The background bibliographic research was conducted through Google Books, consultation of institutional sites and textbooks on the subject taken into consideration. The leading research was carried out on the PubMed, Cochrane Library and Cinahl databases. The keywords used were: nursing, shared decision making, end of life, palliative care, advance care planning, empowerment, équipe.
