Abstract

The thesis was carried out with the aim of clarifying the figure of the nurse in the prison, describing the regulatory path, the characteristics of the prison population, the environment, the organization of services and the health interventions put in place in Italy and in the Emilia Romagna region. In addition, a  has been observed and described a real context  in order to identify congruences with what is found in the literature and to define the role of the nursing figure there. The working methodology used was divided into two phases. Initially, a literature research was carried out and then the internship experience was presented at the Sant'Anna Institute in Modena. Essentially, it can be said that the regional programme for prison assistance is respected and there is no lack of service, thanks in part to external visits in cases of internal impossibility. The nurse represents the figure of mediation, assistance and education, acting as a multi-professional team that takes care of the individual with respect, professionalism and collaboration with the person Assisted. Modena prison offers many opportunities for inmates to avoid further relapses.
