Abstract

According to the WHO, about 78 million children between the ages of 0 and 14 are affected by asthma, as it tends to increase over time. This disease causes great suffering and distress in children.
Through the reading and analysis of various studies it emerges that the main therapy of asthma is inhalation through the use of different medical devices. The main error manifested by the literature data is that children often use the inhaler incorrectly, with the consequence of the increase of the symptoms, the aggravation of the asthmatic crisis and sometimes hospitalization. Another factor that affects the correct management of the disease is the poor therapeutic adherence. In fact, this thesis was developed with the aim of increasing adherence to therapy and the correct use of devices, through educational interventions directed to the child and his family. The educational strategy chosen is the digital storytelling tool that allows you to create a connection between the narration of a story and digital devices and teaching practice. This tool is considered more effective for learning, because a story told in everyday language remains more etched in memory than a scientific explanation. My thesis tries to prove that communication and storytelling are fundamentals tools to take care of the well-being of the patients, suffering from asthma, both physically that psychologically. A good storytelling helps parents and children to be better educated, aware and live a better and healthier life.
The nurse is the health professional with an educational role towards the assisted people, but he must have specific skills and acquire educational skills through continuous training, in order for his intervention to be efficacious.
