Abstract

Background:
Personality disorder, in particular borderline disorder, are among the most complex to be identify and manage. There is a discontinuity in the nursing care directed to these patients, due to some clinical characteristics and little knowledge.
Purpose:
This thesis aims to illustrate the borderline disorder with its own clinical featrures, and how the nurse should approach, highlighting negative and positive attitudes of nursing staff.
Materials and methods:
The survey was carried out in February and March, through a review of the literature, through the consultation of Primary Data Base: PubMed and PsycINFO; and Secondary Data Base: NICE, CochraneLibrary, UpToDate and Nursing Reference; and consultation ofgeneric search engines.
Results:
The review of the literature has revealed some critical points of nursing care, highlighting the correct attitudes. Also highlighting the stigma problem for DBP patients.
Conclusions:
The writing of the thesis reveals the negative and positive attitudes of the nursing staff, paying attention to the knowledge of the clinical characteristics and the two types of treatment. It also highlights the importance of the family and crisis management.
