Abstract
Tourette’s Syndrome (TS) is a developmental neurobehavioral disorder with childhood onset and with a multifactorial genesis, which is caused by a disturbance in the striatal-thalamic-cortical spinal system. This disturbance leads to motor and phonic tics and strange behaviour usually seen in the patients with TS. TS is associated with many comorbid conditions such as ADHD (Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder), OCDs (obsessive-compulsive disorder and obsessive-compulsive behaviour) and coexistent psychopathologies such as depression, anxiety, phobias, intellectual disability. Patients with TS needs special and holistic care which involves many professional figures in the medical field. Nurses play an important role when it comes to the patient care but when it comes to TS, the main focus is to provide education, mental and emotional support and to help in the reduction of coexisting psychopathologies.
