Abstract
The main theme of the thesis is palliative care, focusing more closely on the helping relationship that the nurse establishes with the caregiver and the family in this context.
The thesis describes what palliative care means, mentioning also the regulatory framework of refrence and the setting in which it is provided.
It is also illustrated the helping relatioship and the relational skills that a nurse must have. The caregiver burden is analyzed, a possible state of psychophysical stress that the caregiver can experience in this area and how the roles can change within the family following the event of illness.
The thesis contains the semi-structured interview which was given to a patient's caregiver followed by the home palliative care unit, with the aim of analyzing their experience and perceptions.
