Abstract
The positioning of the patient on the operating table is an important and necessary step for surgery. At the same time, it is necessary to guarantee the comfort and the security of the assisted, in order to avoid complications. Anesthesia, due to muscle relaxation, the inability to perceive postural pain and to communicate it to the staff, makes the patient vulnerable to the onset of risks. In the operating room, the risk of injury or complications due to incorrect positioning is very high. In addition, the positions in the operating room are multiple, and for each, it is useful to know the principals and related complications. Therefore, the collaboration between the members of the team is necessary, to carry out a correct positioning of the person on the operating bed and reach the goal of wellbeing and safety of the patient.
In the surgery departments, I was able to observe some of the complications of positioning, this intrigued me and tried to investigate the topic further. These complications are still present in the clinical reality. The nurse as responsible for positioning has an important role in prevention. This topic still requires further research and further investigation, for clinical practice.
