Abstract
Paediatric palliative care is defined by the WHO as "the active global care of the child's body, mind and spirit and includes active family support." Nowadays, children suffering from incurable diseases and those in need of these care are increasing markedly, but the resources in our country are not always adequate to meet their needs and those of families. These shortcomings also create difficulties for the operators who have to deal with them, who very often struggle to ensure optimal care. All this has a cultural origin within our country. In addition, being part of a multicultural society, we find ourselves assisting children from different cultures whose families need special attention, possessing different values and conceptions. This phenomenon only increases the degree of difficulty in care.
It is therefore necessary to deepen these issues both from the point of view of research and the population: more information, both for those who work in health care and for those who are foreign to them, would lead, in our country, to a greater awareness both from the point of view of cultural perspective both in terms of the needs of these children and their families. Perhaps, one day, we will come to no longer think of the death of a child as a fact from which to remain distant and strangers, this would lead the operators and families of these children to feel less "lonely".
