Abstract
The essay investigates the topic of violence against women in the phases of assistance and management in the emergency department. The topic of violence against women is a tragedy that is not easy to overcome, with a thousand faces and aspects and results that are more and more current especially for victims who have problems not only clinical, but also psychological, social and legal. The aim of this report, of a compilation type, is to study the role that the nurse carries out, inside the Emergency Department, in cases of gender violence. The work explains the importance of the phenomenon, the current regulations, the nursing skills and the helpful planning, which the helthcare professional is expected to know and employ in taking charge of the patient. The databases used for the analysis are: PubMed, Cochrane, Medline through keywords such as: "intimate partner violence", "Emergency Departement", "nursing education", "nursing assistance" ''. Moreover I have used Istat’s statistical survey, WHO indications, guidelines, books and articles in scientific journals. From the works completed, it is noted the relevance of the phenomenon of violence and the need for the health worker to know the characteristics, the prevention and the treatment that he can provides to the abused woman, using the writing of an assistance plan. The study draw attention to the role of the nurse, in the initial reception ward, such as the Emergency Department is crucial not only in the management of the acute event but also in the development education.
