Abstract
The congenital central hypoventilation syndrome or Ondine's syndrome is characterized by the poor ability of the affected subject to regulate the rhythm of respire according to the need of the organism and above all to maintain the respiratory rhythm at night. This compositions purpose is to describe and to discuss the diagnostic methods, comorbidity, and ventilating techniques necessary in order to assist children affected by congenital cen-tral hypoventilation syndrome. This illness is extremely rare and nowadays counts just a few more than a hundred children for this disease, at the mo-ment, there is no therapy, but, thanks to advanced ventilatory system and to the improvement of medical knowledges is it possible to assist these patients in the most appropriate way.
The nursing role in assisting sick people is known since time, and therapeu-tic education reveals it as the best weapon against chronic disease like this one. For writing of this thesis I consulted the scientific literature through the employ of primary and secondary databases (Pubmed, Medline, NCBI, CI-NAHL) and some manuals
