Abstract

The following thesis paper deals with the issue of prevention in the field of mental health of the relevant phenomenon of aggression. The choice of this topic arises following an internship experience at the accredited private institution "Villa Igea", to which the fourth chapter of the thesis is dedicated.
About two thirds of nurses find themselves experiencing various forms of violence, both physical and verbal, during their careers, having to implement effective strategies to manage and resolve the problem. In this regard, to avoid incurring burnout or work-related stress development, it is clear that prevention is one of the best techniques that can be used to face any type of risk situation. It therefore becomes important to establish a type of relationship of trust with the person being assisted that involves them and makes them responsible, in an empathetic atmosphere that is welcoming and conducive to mutual growth. Furthermore, raising the awareness of nurses to attend refresher courses, as well as putting environmental changes into practice, rather than using various techniques such as pet therapy, are all excellent preventive strategies aimed at reducing the incidence of aggressive phenomena through a quality and personalized attention and care of the psychiatric patient.
