Abstract

Due to the their professional profile, nurses should guarantee educational assistance. In particular, the emergency nurse who has specific competences about First Aid, could be a key figure in the educational process for schoolchildren, which is essential for building an aware, prepared and with self-efficacy community. Through kid's training the intervention percentage in this kind of situations is likely to rise considerably and the survival rate could increase. Specifically, considering out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, a situation that needs an immediate intervention of cardiopulmonary rianimation, we know that in Europe only 15% of bystanders starts RCP. If we increase the percentage of intervention to 50-60% then 100.000 people per year can be saved. Kids are ready to learn, they have will to help and if trained properly and constantly they earn self- confidence and skills that don't fade away with time passing. Training must be appropriate, age-related, and organized with stimulating activities leaving a positive message. Concluding, there's the presentation of two national educational and training projects, and one local project. They were born with the aim of developing first aid skills starting from the recognition of a critical situation to the emergency call, something possibile even for little kids, and finally including more complex skills, especially cardiopulmonary reanimation and early defibrillation, which are achievable from older students.
