Abstract

Patients suffering from double diagnosis present in their clinical reality psychopathological signs and symptoms belonging both to the drug and psychiatric field. In fact they experience a series of difficulties in the management of everyday life, in personal organization, in family and social relationships, in facing stressful life events in conforming to environmental rules and demands, and in maintaining a job and a home, placing them at operators who have them in treatment a series of problems articulated in the biological, psychological and social fields. Moreover patients with dual diagnosis represent a heterogeneous population with diversified problems: therefore, in relation to the lack of a type of patient, there is no modality standard of intervention, but it is necessary to adapt and customize the various therapeutic measures according to their own problems, needs and priorities, as well as in relation to the answers and reactions provided by them, in compliance with the treatments. The objective of this script was to investigate the topic of double diagnosis, through taking charge and managing and patient nursing and the analysis of a clinical case through the use of the NANDA-I, NOC and NIC taxonomy. In particular the analyzed case presents a patient with benzodiazepine abuse comorbidity and a depressive disorder. A new operative protocol has been introduced by Lugoboni which deals with the management of benzodiazepine dependence through Flumazenil. The correct nursing approach was identified to determine patient outcomes from a mental, physical and psychological health point of view. Furthermore, some interventions have been identified that are highly effective, and partly because the problem of double diagnosis is a chronic problem.
