Abstract

Pressure injuries are a very common nursing problem and widely studied in the health field, receiving great attention in adults and the elderly, while in the neonatal area this problem appears to be a little in-depth topic. The skin of the newborns includes about 13% of their body weight unlike only 3% in the adult, it shows considerable differences even between a full-term and a preterm infant, thus resulting in a differentiation in management and a continuous change related to development in the first months of life. Prevention of pressure injuries in the neonatal population is essential in order to allow the skin to perform its barrier function and thus prevent infections, pain and complications. In the evaluation of the pressure ulcers of the newborn, particular attention must also be paid to injuries from devices such as nasal cannulae, tubes, tubes, etc. In Neonatal Intensive Care (TIN), the majority of incidences of pressure damage are related to the use of ventilation-related devices, which the majority of newborns undergo. The selection and use of any presidi or medications if not suitable, places the newborn at risk of MARSI or MASD, the latter must be recognized by the nurse to eliminate the causal agent and distinguish them readily from the pressure ulcers. Hence the need for a systematic modality of the management of pressure lesions of the newborn, appropriately diversifying the practices on the premature infant and on the term newborn. This thesis proposes, therefore, to research the standardized skin care practices in TIN by means of a bibliographic review through the use of the Databases, the best and most up-to-date scientific evidence concerning the assistance, prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers in the neonatal patient, to inform and educate health professionals.
