Abstract

The main objective of the drafting of this essay desk study was to realize a review of the literature about the theme of gender based violence with the main purpose to investigate the role that the nurse have in this type of case study within the multidisciplinary network of the taking charge of the women victim of violence.
The work illustrates the scale of this phenomenon, the characteristics of gender based violence, it's impact on the victims and the assistencial and the regulatory aspects that the nurse is required to know and apply in different moment and places where he operate.
The analysis made is relied of research done in the followings databases: Pubmed, Cinahl, Cochrane, Medline, Oxford Scholarship online, UpToDate, through the key words: ''violence'', ''gender'', ''women'', ''nursing care''.
The types of studies that have been taken into consideration for the research made, have made use of ISTAT data, WHO indications, guidelines, literature reviews, books on the subject and articles published in scientific journals.
From the emerged elements, the phenomenon is still dramatically present in the society, for this it becomes decisive, even for the nursing profession, to know its main characteristics, how to prevent it and the treatment that they can provide, both with autonomous functions and also in collaboration with the other professionals involved.
In fact, the study highlights how the role of the nurse, even in these cases, may be relevant, resulting an important figure not only in emergency management but also in cultural change linked to this phenomenon.
