Abstract

Liver transplantation is the preferred treatment option for individuals with life-threatening or terminal conditions. In recent years, together with important progress in terms of technical-surgical and therapeutic management, more and more attention has been paid not only to the evaluation of the clinical pathology, but also to the factors that have an influence on what is defined as quality of life. The care of the person by the multidisciplinary team, including the nursing staff, therefore provides for the implementation of welfare interventions aimed at ensuring the welfare of the person in every aspect, educating and directing it towards the adoption of proper behaviors for health promotion, such as adherence to the therapeutic regime to ensure the success of the procedure and avoid the onset of complications and the conduct of a healthy lifestyle. Not considering or underestimating the impact that the treatment process has on the transplanted patient resulting from the many changes he has to cope with, can lead to the failure of the treatment and unpleasant repercussions on the latter a on those close to him. The diffusion of clear information about the available resources, the active involvement in the therapeutic path also thanks to the close collaboration between the various professional figures and the support of a figure like the nurse, can contribute to reach the maximum level of well-being for the person, increasing his quality of life.
