Abstract

The main topic of the thesis is the prevention of tumors and answering questions such as: what are the risk factors? What are the best strategies to prevent the onset of tumors? Which lifestyles are to be adopted? How much do neoplasms affect modern society? And lastly: what are the most frequent tumors? The main sources from which information has been extrapolated are the most famous and reliable international associations that produce research, study, and publish articles related to oncology. Associations such as AIOM (Italian Association of Medical Oncology), AIRC (Italian Association for Cancer Research), AIRTUM (Italian Association of Tumor Registries), WHO (World Health Organization), WCRF (World Cancer Research Fund), the AICR (American Institute for Cancer Research), the AIMaC (Italian Association of Cancer Patients), and beyond all serve to contribute. The body of the work is initially presented with an analysis of the problem (what it is, how it affects the population, etiologic agents and prevention, etc.) and then suggests the figure of the nurse as a precious resource within the society capable of performing autonomous activities aimed at prevention, education, promotion of healthy lifestyles, and the spread of a health culture. I will present two projects developed from nursing care plans. Specifically, the projects are called '' ChiediaFlorence.it '' and '' Effetto Farfalla '', the winner of the first prize in the competition promoted by the Lions Club International. A peculiarity of both projects is that they are both ideas implemented and promoted by a nurse in the extra-hospital setting. This is to show that a nurse can practice prevention even at a distance outside the walls of a hospital or a nursing home / RSA.
