Abstract

The role of the nurse within the 118 system is central; in fact, in the management of the emergency mission in the extra-hospital setting, it may find itself working independently or, in particularly complex scenarios, in collaboration with other professionals. The situations in which the nurse is called to operate are multiple and different from each other in relation to the type of patients to be treated, to the different pathologies found and not least to the environmental factors related to the missions; in this sense, the greater the autonomy, the better the patient's outcome will be.The operating protocols support the nurse in dealing autonomously with certain pathological situations that the practitioner may find himself dealing with an extra hospital rescue mission. In addition to the protocols, the background of the nurse who accesses the 118 system is fundamental, which must include previous professional experience in the area of critical and / or urgent emergency areas. This work analyzes the field of action of the nurse in the SET (territorial emergency system) 118, the current legislation and the protocols in use in the Emilia Romagna region. The advanced nursing algorithms are essential for the autonomous work of the nurse on the advanced and basic rescue means of transportation: they act as a real tool available to the nurse for a correct diagnostic orientation and for the subsequent treatment of certain problems of health defined time dependent; it is therefore necessary to quickly spread them at regional level and to provide specific training for their correct application.
