Abstract
A therapeutic relationship can be defined as the relationship within which the patient, aided by the nurse, commits to execute the desired process of change (Secchiaroli, Turella, 2009).
This rappresents the core of the caring practice, but the building of a quality therapeutic relationship between the mental health nurse and the psychiatric patient its not a spontaneous event and specific skills are required to establish said relationship. In this thesis were going to identify the foundamental aspects that characterize the therapeutic relationship between the nurse and the psychiatric patient, and the strategies to make it efficient. To this purpose have been used various textbooks found through a bibliographic research made with Google Schoolar followed by a revision of the texts through online databases (Pubmed, PsycINFO) using the following keywords: relationship, patient, nurse and psychiatry. The handling of the subject has been followed by a case report that includes the description of a real clinic case handled and the relative planned nursing aid through the use of the taxonomy NANDA-I.NIC, NOC. The results obtained show that there is a moltitude of foundamental aspects that characterize the therapeutic relationship between the nurse and the psyachiatric patient. An efficient therapeutic relationship is essential to achive a beneficial therapeutic result for the patient in terms of partecipation and adhesion to the cure. In conclusion we can state that the relational skills necessary to facilitate a therapeutic path in a psychiatric service are the result of the balance of personal aptitudes, acquired knowledge, experience and awareness of ones own professional roles boundaries.
