Abstract

This thesis discuss the topic of triage in the emergency room and some new models introduced to treat less urgent cases. The choice of this path was developed after the training internship in the emergency room of the Sant'Agostino Estense Civil Hospital of Modena.
In the drafting process we started with some historical notes on triage, analyzing briefly the main operating models in use in the world. Subsequently, the Italian context was analyzed, illustrating in more detail the legislative context, the system in use and the main organizational and training characteristics.
Proceeding with the report we talk about the new triage models, such as Fast Track and See & Treat, useful both for the treatment of patients with minor problems. Finally, in the final part the above-mentioned first aid experience was illustrated.
From the arguments discussed, it emerges that the nurse occupy a role that is crucial and considerable, its work has become increasingly autonomous and responsible. This new models of triage for the treatment of less urgent cases are index of this, in relation to which, the expert nurse can autonomously manage less serious patients, directing them in alternative routes instead of the classic triage visit.
